Ages 6-9
9 am- 3pm

Thumbnail of Patterns in Culture project

Cultures around the world have indigenous patterns and rhythms that lend themselves to ways of life, traditions, and historic folklore. Join us to uncover these native designs from global destinations. Make Tangrams with patterns that hint at Indian mandalas, African patterns from Kitenge and Ankara fabrics, and motifs from Latin America, East Asia, and the Polynesian Islands. Sand and stack house-shaped blocks, decorate them to represent houses of the world, and test your balancing skills.

Delve into natural patterns outdoors using sticks, rocks, leaves, and found materials to make surprising art for park visitors to happen upon. Practice rhythms and beat patterns with body percussion exercises.

Fee: $85
