Electricity has a PR problem.
To most, it seems confusing, intimidating, or even dangerous. But just because complicated electronics exist doesn't mean there aren't circuits that can be understood in minutes. With just a few parts and a soldering iron, almost anyone can build a huge number of gizmos.
Learn about the basics of electronics: the interactions between batteries, resistors, transistors, capacitors, and other components. Build skill in soldering, and discover how to turn schematic diagrams into real circuits. Learn about electrical safety and why batteries don't shock you. By the end of the week, you'll understand the inner workings of the 555 timer chip, a circuit so clever it's still being widely used 50 years after its invention.
Please note: This class will be primarily indoors.
