Invention expands the powers of masks.
180 years ago photography was greeted as a science (a precise reflection of what the camera saw), not an art. But the camera became a tool that gave artists new powers to tell stories with images. Now digital editing can create images with little regard for what the camera saw.
• Start with a portrait of you.
• Learn to add a simple mask. Save that image.
• Now experiment with your face Change your eye color. Change your hair color, your hair. Save.
• Blend your face into the portrait of your favorite animal.
• Experiment.
You will work in Photopea – an online photo editor that you can use at home for free.
