140 years ago, Edward Muybridge completed a series of experiments that ended in the invention of animation. Muybridge had bet that he could map the stride of a horse's hooves by stopping the action with many cameras. He discovered that those pictures could recreate a moving image. His mechanical Zoetrope produced the first gif.
Help us Beta Test* a brilliant new Zoetrope designed by Ana Tavares. An optical coupler syncs an LED with each frame. You can animate copies of Muybridge's experiments. You can make sculptures come to life. You can make balls bounce, birds fly, rabbits pop out of hats and movements of your own creations. Take home an animation studio. Our 3D printers will support your experiments.
