Nearly everyone has seen a 3D printer, but have you even designed something for it? You will learn how to design simple, yet useful, objects like flash drive holders, figurines (Warhammer, Mordheim, etc), keychains…and more.
We will be using Tinkercad to design our projects throughout the class. It will help you create your projects step by step. 3D printing experience is not required, but it is recommended if you expect to make more complicated designs. Beginners will be able to make projects at their own pace as well.
The other requirement is patience – as 3D printing (and designing) can sometimes take some time.
Students will need their own Flash Drives or other type of removable storage to keep files and projects as backups. Losing a long worked on file can be very frustrating.
We will ask that students create their own account on Tinkercad (tinkercad.com) before the class starts since we will be working on all these projects in that program.
We will be working on our Window's based Lenovo laptops in the Water Center building.
Please Note: There is a $30 materials fee included in the price of this class
